Spring has started on the farm

Spring calving has officially started! Yesterday we found our first 2 calves born and like always it was like an Easter egg hunt, you never know what color or where the Moms have put them.

Then we might have a couple more calves before the day ends. The only thing were missing from the previous Springs is our Goose War!

New Carving-2 Point Cypress Knee Ring

This carving is unique in so many ways. First it’s a 2 point cypress knee ring and it has several scenes that are carved all around the carving. So I have tried to take pictures of the carving so you could understand.

I've had this Cypress Knee Ring for over a year and then the right day came and I could see what all the points and bumps were going to be! Have you ever had a piece that you were going work on but didn't know what to do with? Well this is one of the many in my shop that I knew I had to have to create something with but had no idea what. With that being said this puzzle is done and I have more to go.....Fun!

Shop Update and New Stuff

First on the list I wanted share with you is my new way of listening to music in my shop. Our radio stations we can get in are very limited so, my MP3 is my best friend! Until now I’ve either had to use ear buds (hate) or headphones which always seem to get in my way…I’ve gone tech (with help from the young generation) you can hook-up the MP3 to computer speakers! YEAH!

I’ve added a print from Nannyems and it describes exactly how I feel when I’m playing in the shop!

Taking Pictures - HELP Please

I’ve always had problems taking pictures and I’m gaining a lot of weight! Frustration equals Chocolate and that happens when it’s time to take pictures of this stuff! Lighting and finding the right background for white or light colored carvings is the worst. Just take a look this is an example.

I must have taken a hundred pictures of this egg and finally gave up and used cottonwood bark for a background and added a poster frame to help it out. I’ve read about making a light box or purchasing a kit with lights….do they really work? What do you guys use or do for pictures? I see the detail and beautiful pictures of your art on blogland and it always amazes me! So any and all help would be great!

It's Friday....Ya ya Ya!
I have spring fever alittle Valentine's and Easter going on. Just finished up some of the carvings! When I started the weather was warm and made you think spring was on the way. Now we have COLD weather but hardly no snow and I have more spring projects in the works....I need the warm weather to get in the mood again...well I can ask! Who knows it might just work ;}

HaPpY HallOwEen

Hope everyone is enjoying this Fun Holiday and taking a little break from creating! I love being involved in Blog Land the creations you talented people have are great!
Shop Update:
I’ve had so much fun trying to do some more Halloween carvings this year and to get in mood I’ve added some fun to the shop! I’m in hopes by next year to spend some time in the shop just painting the walls and making it a fun place to be. It is just hard to be in the shop and not play!

Halloween left over ….sometime I’ll finish the carving and maybe even paint it.

Of course this is my favorite sign and is soooo true.

Now in the wood shop area this is my Grandmother’s Kitchen Cupboard that I’ve saved for along time and found the perfect spot for! She was the Queen of all Holidays so it just seems fitting to put my unpainted carvings in.

This is what was taped inside….my Grandparents farmed and Grandma could bake like no other.

October Pfatt - I’m going to catch you

Halloween is soooo much FuN to make! I made Raven Fred awhile back and had no idea what to do with him. He looked evil just carved and no paint, so I painted him up and that changed his looks to maybe being silly! Now what's he going to be doing?

Haggie and Raven Fred are out again pestering the Pumpkin Spirits. It seems they never get bored of this tradition the night of Halloween! Of course the Pumpkin Spirit is trying to catch those two pestering pranksters. Will he ever get this done? (He’s been trying for the last 100 years)
